Domaine Confuron-Cotétidot
Described as “power and grace in a bottle”, Confuron Cotetidot’s pinot noirs are considered to be among the best value for quality red wines of Burgundy. Slightly more accessible than certain famous sought-after wines of the region, Confuron Cotetidot’s pinot noirs offer superb ageing potential of 20 to 25 years.
Below average price with above-average potential
With ultra expensive Domaine Romanee Conti (aka The Domaine) offsetting values, it’s no wonder prices for the fine wines of Confuron-Cotetidot often start below the benchmark in the Grands Crus they share. The interesting thing here is that on the whole, Confuron Cotetidot prices have been enjoying unprecedented growth, with certain vintages (2007 Vosne-Romanee; 2015, 2010, 2007 Les Suchots Premier Cru) eventually surpassing their benchmark by Q2 2019.
The Family Secret
From Bourgogne to Premier and Grand Crus, the family vineyards cover about 12 hectares and have never seen the use of synthetic chemicals. Created in 1964 when parents Jean-Jacques “Jacky” Confuron and Bernadette Cotetidot married, day to day operations have since been handed down to sons Yves and Jack - though at times you will find the entire family still work the vines. So exactly what makes this producer’s wines so special? Some will say the variations in the terroir have influence, noting Confuron-Cotetidot vines boast the best location within their given appellations, but the “sélection massale” and the fact they have their very own pinot noir clone “Pinot Confuron” surely help make their wines truly unique.
